Sign the Petition to End the Rain Tax
The “rain tax” is the separate stormwater bill sent to property owners in parts of Northeastern Pennsylvania. Residents have questioned it and fought it since the first bills arrived in 2019. For years, many were told federal requirements left no way to end the bill.
The 2009 federal order is now gone, but the bills are still coming. The work to keep pollution out of our waterways must continue. Now Pennsylvania needs a clear plan to pay for it.
To the Governor of Pennsylvania, the Pennsylvania General Assembly, the Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection, and the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency:
Work with local leaders to find a reliable way to pay for the required stormwater work using tax dollars already collected. Share a public plan and timeline to end the separate rain tax bill without replacing it with another fee on residents or businesses.
